Coronary Angioplasty
Coronary angioplasty is a term describing a procedure used to widen vessels narrowed by stenoses or occlusions and restore normal heart functioning, both in angina pectoris and in acute myocardial infarction.
This procedure is becoming increasingly popular in Russia. It performs without anesthesia, so patient can stay conscious. Once the vessel has been widened with balloon catheter, an adequate blood flow is restored. But the vessel may narrow again over time at the same location, however, and the procedure may need to be repeated. Angioplasty is often combined with the permanent placement of a small wire mesh tube called a stent to help prop the artery open and decrease its chance of narrowing again. Some stents are coated with medication to help keep your artery open (drug-eluting stents), while others are not (bare-metal stents).
A wide range of balloon catheters and stents for coronary angioplasty procedure is presented in Daksmed group of companies’ portfolio.Angioplasty is a term describing a procedure used to widen vessels narrowed by stenoses or occlusions and restore normal heart functioning, both in angina pectoris and in acute myocardial infarction.

Actual positions
-
Shorter balloon shoulders for effective pre & post dilatation.
-
Thinner and shorter radiopaque markers for better crossability.
-
Triple layer technology for higher pressure resistance, flexibility and improved crossing performance.
-
Reinforced guidewire exit port offers enhanced pushability. Terumo’s durable hydrophilic coating.
-
1.9 Fr low profile “hypotube” provides optimal deliverability.
Stent Architecture:
- Cobalt chromium (L605) platform with 65µm strut thickness.
- Hybrid cell design comprising of an intelligent mix of open and close cells resulting in excellent radial strength with a high flexibility.
- Conventional edge-flaring stent designs allow the stent to dog-bone during deployment (this dog-boning coupled with balloon overhang may cause edge injury).
- BioMime has struts with design variability which results in morphology mediated expansion, having a propensity to minimize stent edge injury.
- BioMime has thin Struts as low as 65 mm (0.0026”):
- Low blood flow perturbance
- Easy struts nesting to the vessel wall
- Added flexibility and conformability
BioPoly™:
BioPoly is Meril’s propriety biodegradable co-polymer formulation:
- has a degradation time of @40-50days
- offers uniformity in stent coating
- is highly stable during EtO process and there is no loss in polymer integrity.
- does-not web, crack, lump or on stent or balloon surface
- exceptionally low coating thickness of <2µm is possible
